Amyris essential oil, also known as West Indian Sandalwood, is produced from the wood chips of the Amyris Balsamifera tree, native to the West Indies and Central America. The trees grow to about 60 feet high and have clusters of white flowers that develop into an edible black-blueish fruit. The essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the twigs and bark. Amyris is most commonly used either as a fixative in perfumery, or to adulterate pure Sandalwood oil which is much more expensive. The wood burns like a candle and is also called "Candlewood". Amyris blends well with Sandalwood and Lavender. Country of Origin Our Amyris Essential Oil is produced in Haiti. Key Qualities Cooling, Calming, reduces stress and tension. Uses Essential Oils should not be used directly on the skin and should be combined with "Carrier Oils" and massaged into the skin or used as follows: Bathing: Add 5 to 10 drops directly to your bath Bath Oils: 2 drops of essential oil to a teaspoon of Carrier Oil added to your bath Sauna: Add 2-3 drops of oil to 500ml (17 fl.oz) water and add to the heat source Massage Oil: 2-3 drops in 1 teaspoon (5ml) of Carrier Oil Oil Burners: Few drops diluted with water Caution Do not use undiluted essential oils directly on the skin.
